This policy applies to information collected when you visit dimwit.world, make a purchase, sign up for our newsletter, apply for a trade account, or get in touch with us in any way. We may update it from time to time in accordance with legislative changes or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons — we'll let you know when anything significant changes.



What We Collect


What you give us directly

    • Your name, email address, and contact details when you create an account, place an order, or subscribe to our newsletter

    • Your billing and shipping address to fulfill your order

    • Payment information — processed securely by Shopify; we never see or store your full card number

    • Any messages you send us: customer service inquiries, trade program applications, general correspondence


What we collect automatically

    • Device and browser information, IP address, and operating system

    • Pages you visit, how long you spend on them, and what you click

    • How you arrived at our site — referring URLs and search terms

    • Data collected via cookies and similar tracking technologies (see below)



How We Use It
We use your information to run our business honestly and well — nothing more.

    • To process and ship your order, and keep you informed at every stage

    • To respond to your questions and customer service requests

    • To send you marketing emails, if you've opted in — you can opt out any time

    • To understand how people use our site so we can make it better

    • To prevent fraud and protect the security of our store

    • To comply with legal and regulatory obligations



Who We Share It With
We share your information only with the service providers who make it possible to run Dimwit. All of them are contractually bound to use your data solely for the services they provide to us — nothing else.

    • Shopify — powers our store and processes payments. Read their privacy policy.

    • Klaviyo — manages our email communications. You can unsubscribe from any email, any time.

    • Shipping carriers (FedEx, UPS, USPS and others) — receive your name and address to deliver your order.

    • Analytics tools — help us understand site traffic in aggregate, anonymized form.


We may also disclose your information when required by law — in response to a subpoena, court order, or other lawful request — or to protect our rights and the safety of others.


In the event Dimwit is acquired or merged with another company, your information may transfer to the new entity. This policy would remain in effect, and we would notify you before your data became subject to any different terms.


We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else. This isn't a policy we adopted reluctantly — it's a line we won't cross.



Cookies
We use cookies — small files stored on your device — to keep your shopping cart working, understand how people navigate the site, and occasionally to show relevant ads elsewhere on the web. You can disable or limit cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not function as intended if you do.


Types of cookies we use:

    • Essential cookies — required for the store to function (cart, checkout, session)

    • Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the site, in anonymized form

    • Marketing cookies — enable us to show relevant ads on other platforms, if you've consented


Email marketing
We use Klaviyo to send order updates and, if you've opted in, marketing emails about new products, restocks, and things we think you'll want to know about. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in any email, or by writing to us at hello@dimwit.world. Unsubscribing from marketing doesn't affect transactional emails like order confirmations and shipping notifications.


How Long We Keep It
We keep your information for as long as we need it — to fulfill your order, maintain your account, or meet our legal obligations. Order and financial records are retained for a minimum of seven years. If you'd like us to delete your account and personal data, reach out and we'll take care of it promptly, subject to any legal retention requirements we can't waive.



Your Rights
You have the right to know what we hold about you, correct it if it's wrong, and ask us to delete it. Specifically:

    • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you

    • Ask us to correct anything that's inaccurate or out of date

    • Ask us to delete your personal information (subject to legal exceptions)

    • Withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time

    • Request that we restrict or stop certain processing of your data

    • Ask for a portable copy of your data in a machine-readable format

California Residents
If you're in California, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We do not sell your personal information — not in any form, to anyone. Under CCPA, you have the right to:

    • Know what categories of personal information we've collected about you and how it's been used

    • Request deletion of your personal information

    • Opt out of the sale of personal information (there is none, but the right stands)

    • Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights

Canadian Residents
If you're in Canada, our handling of your personal information is governed by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). We collect only what we need for the stated purposes, obtain your meaningful consent where required, and protect your data with appropriate security measures.

You have the right to access or correct your personal information, and to raise concerns about how we've handled it. Contact us at hello@dimwit.world. If your concern isn't resolved to your satisfaction, you may escalate to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.



Children
Our site is not intended for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us at hello@dimwit.world and we'll delete it promptly.



Security
We take reasonable precautions to protect your information — SSL encryption, secure servers, restricted access. No system is completely impenetrable, and we can't guarantee absolute security. What we can promise is that we treat your data with the same seriousness we bring to everything else we make.



Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for legal reasons, to reflect new services, or as our business evolves. We'll post any changes here with an updated date. For significant changes, we'll notify you by email. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
